Awards and distinctions

Celia Vela is National Award for the best collection of the 080 Barcelona Fashion of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Since 2017, an ensemble belonging to Celia Vela's collection, winner of the National Prize for the best collection of the 080 Barcelona Fashion, has been part of the Textile and Clothing Collection of the Barcelona Design Museum. 

In 2012, Celia Vela receives the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Girona Young Entrepreneurs Association.

In 2011, a piece by Celia Vela is chosen to participate in the collective exhibition "Peces Escollides" at the Museu de l'Empordà in Figueres.

Celia Vela is an Honorary Member of the Brotherhood of the "Bóta de Sant Ferriol" (Brotherhood of the cavers and winemakers of the Empordà).

Catwalks

Celia Vela has been for many years one of the main companies that has shown at 080 Barcelona Fahion. 
For many seasons she has presented her collections in different spaces in the city of Tokyo. Among these presentations, it is worth mentioning the one held in September 2010 at the Spanish Embassy in Japan. 
She was also the guest designer at several editions of the Girona Fashion Week.

In 2018 the designer decides to stop doing fashion shows due to her discomfort with the rigidity of this model for presenting collections, the lack of sustainability of this type of event and an increasingly lower return, taking into account the great effort, at all levels, that the shows represent for the firms.

Fairs

Celia Vela has participated in almost every major fashion fair in the world, from Atmosphère in Paris to the International Fashion Fair in Tokyo, including Espacio Cibeles, Bread and Butter, 080 Barcelona Fashion and Pure London. 

He started, even before creating his signature, participating in the first MerkaModaFAD that took place in the old FAD headquarters in Brusi street in Barcelona. It was through this market of designers recently graduated from design schools that she succeeded in arousing the interest of a shop in Barcelona called On Land, which became her first retail client. 

Other

Celia Vela creates the character "La chica de la tramontana" and, in 2019, designs a collection of accessories inspired by this character.

She illustrates the cookbook that the shoemaker Carme Ribot publishes in 2017.

In May 2016, she is the mentor of Maestros Costureros 2016 in Bogotá.

In 2015, the exhibition "Threads of Complicity" is one of the parallel activities of 080 Barcelona Fashion. The exhibition consists of works created by Celia Vela and the painter Begoña Ramos that offer a different vision of the fashion shows: intimate, poetic and serene.

In July 2012 the short film "Celia Vela" by Josep Algans and Francesc Egido will be presented.

He designs and produces fifty silk orgy wrappers with a hand-painted fig leaf and Swarovski crystals and silk ribbons for a book about Figueres that the City Hall will use as an institutional gift in 2009.

In 2007, Celia created a small collection inspired by a doll from the 1930s from the collection of the Toy Museum of Catalonia that belonged to the girl Mercè Vinyas. The designer donated to the Museum a girl's dress made, like the rest of the pieces, in velvet printed with the motifs of "Nina".

Exhibition "Celia Vela - 10 years, 10 looks of fashion" at the Museu de l'Empordà in Figueres on the 10th anniversary of the firm; from 28 October to 4 December 2005. On the occasion of her ten years in the fashion world, the President of the Generalitat visits Celia Vela's shop. 

He wears a lampshade for a floor lamp that is exhibited in the exhibition "25 Barcelunas". The exhibition opens on 12 May 1998 at the FAD headquarters, and later moves to the "Convent dels Angels" in Barcelona.

Throughout his career she has collaborated with companies and institutions such as: Dupont, Cículo Textil, Artextil, ModaFAD, Lucky Strike, Agua de Sevilla and Cellers Espelt. And he has participated as a speaker in conference cycles or master classes at the University of Girona, Designers Fashion Experiences, Gimoda, Red Textil Europea or LCI Barcelona among others.
